A smaller version of the classic round Bolga basket from Bolgatanga, northern Ghana. Hand-woven from elephant grass with a leather-wrapped handle. Perfect for storing small items, gifting, or styling on shelves where a full-size basket would be too much.
Elephant grass is harvested at the end of the rainy season, dried in the sun, split into thin strips, and twisted by hand into strands. The basket is woven from the base up. The leather strip on the handle is wrapped and stitched in place. A skilled weaver finishes a mini basket in 2 to 3 days.
Every basket in this collection is unique. Each is named after a traditional Ghanaian day-name (Akan tradition). Pick the one whose photo speaks to you. Slight variations in weave tightness, color depth, and handle wrapping are part of the artistry.
Dust with a soft brush. If the shape softens, mist with water and reshape, then air dry. Keep out of long direct sun.
